While I have no desire to read my literature from a screen, I think that all of these freebie sites are pretty great for those who do.
Project Gutenberg was sort of a sad looking site (akin to its "almost namesake", Steve Guttenberg, post-80s). Google was typically easy, giving it all away, and looking great while doing it. I preferred ManyBooks, which seemed unassuming, but charming, and smoothly navigated.
I attempted to download The Metamorphosis, as it always reminds me that if I haven't woken up as a giant vermin, I'm ahead of the curve. Unfortunately, the downloading choices were just too numerous for one who really just wants to open a book. So, I went back to easy old Google, and downloaded with no problems. So much for a good personality.
I love this bit: "I attempted to download The Metamorphosis, as it always reminds me that if I haven't woken up as a giant vermin, I'm ahead of the curve."
ReplyDeleteYou are pretty funny.
How defines one "vermin"? :)
ReplyDeleteCertain species might take offense!
If you do happen to wake up one ill-fated morning as a giant vermin, let me know and I will bring you some moldy cheese.
